Indoctrination in Linguistics Education

The transmission of a body of knowledge from one generation to the next is an important function of institutionalised education. This function is usually satisfied by pedagogical texts, that is, the spoken and written text of educational instruction, found in classroom lectures and textbooks. This article provides a close scrutiny of the discourse of pedagogical texts in the language sciences.
